As synthetic compounds sold only for laboratory and in vitro research, and explicitly not for human or animal consumption, they exist within a framework distinct from pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements and controlled substances.

Research compounds vs. pharmaceuticals

The key distinction is between a research chemical supplier and a pharmaceutical manufacturer or compounding pharmacy. Legitimate research peptide suppliers:

• Sell compounds for research use only, not for therapeutic, diagnostic or human-consumption purposes
• Are not compounding pharmacies as defined under Section 503A of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act
• Make no health claims: products are not presented as treatments, supplements or drugs
• Require buyer qualification: buyers confirm researcher status and age

Buyer responsibilities

When purchasing research compounds, the buyer is responsible for making sure their procurement and use comply with federal, state and local regulations, including:

• Confirming that possession is permitted in their jurisdiction
